UPDATE: 11/12/20 12:48 AM EST The maintenance has been completed and the server is back online.

On 11/11/20 at approximately 9:00 PM EST, our monitoring software made us aware of a potential hard drive failure on one of our client hosting servers.

The affected server is LWHOST

After further investigation, it was found that the hard drive containing the server's operating system has reached it's maximum reads/writes as recommended by the manufacturer. This does not mean the hard drive will actually fail, but it does signify that the hard drive has reached it's age limit and should be replaced to prevent larger issues down the road.

IMPORTANT: This hard drive DOES NOT contain any customer website hosting data. Customer website hosting data is on a separate hard drive and is continuously backed up onto a second backup hard drive. Your website hosting data is safe and is NOT affected.

With that being said, It's important for the health of the server that the aging hard drive be swapped out as soon as possible. This is scheduled for 12:00 AM EST 11/12/20. During this time, the server will be temporarily offline. Customers whose website hosting (including email services) is on this server will be temporarily unavailable until the maintenance is complete and the server is back online. This should take no more than a couple hours, but could be completed much sooner. The ultimate goal is to get the server back online as quickly as possible to minimize disruption.

Hard drive EOL's (end of life) and failures can happen anywhere at anytime, which is why we have 24/7 monitoring and a course of action to quickly resolve issues like this. The important thing here is that we caught the issue very quickly (within minutes) before any serious problems occurred, thanks to my husband's (Pete, for those of you who know him) vigilant and constant monitoring of the client servers. Our partnered team of highly trained server technicians over at the Liquid Web data center will handle the hard drive swap from here.

I know this may sound scary, but it really shouldn't! In fact, it should reassure all of our clients that we take the services that we provide to them very seriously.

There is nothing that you need to do on your end, except have some patience while the maintenance is being completed.
